Tips for Writing Thank You Notes

If you are experiencing writer's block at the thought of writing hundreds of wedding thank you notes, then this is the perfect guide for you. Just follow these simple steps and your thank you notes will come together as easy as one, two, three, four...

Step 1
If the person attended the wedding or other event, first thank them for coming. If they could not attend but sent a gift anyways, express your regrets that they couldn't attend, if appropriate:

Thank you so much for attending our wedding. We really enjoyed celebrating our special day with you!
or
We were so happy that you came to our wedding. It was a blessing to have all of our closest friends and family together on our special day!
or
We are so sorry that you could not attend our wedding. Hopefully we can all get together soon!

Step 2
If the person sent or brought you a gift, thank them for the present. Be sure to mention the gift and state how you plan to use it, if possible.

Thank you for the generous check for our wedding. We have been saving for a down payment on our first home and have added your gift to our special account.
or
Thanks for the luxurious bath towels. They will be perfect in our guest bathroom.
or
We love the gorgeous crystal vase. We already placed it on our mantle and it looks great.
or
Thanks for the lovely picture album. We can't wait to fill it with pictures of our wedding. When ever we look at it we will think of you and our wedding day!

Step 3
Wrap it all up with a nice sentiment like...

Can't wait to see you again real soon!
or
We both thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Thank you so very much!

Step 4
Add a closing such as...

Love,

Yours truly,
or
Sincerely,
or
With thanks,
or
Thank You,

Finally sign your names, seal, address and stamp the envelopes & YOU ARE DONE!!
