The
Bridesmaids

The bridesmaids are
usually the bride and groom’s sisters,
the bride’s cousins, or the bride’s closest
friends.
Here is a list of all of the official duties and responsibilities
of the bridesmaids …
-
Co-host the bridal shower with the
maid of honor
-
Help maid of honor organize and pay
for the bachelorette party

Help shop
for bridesmaids’ dresses
-
Pay
for own wedding attire
-
Help bride with
addressing envelopes, recording wedding gifts received,
shopping
and other
important pre-wedding
tasks
-
Help the bride
get dressed for the wedding (along with maid of honor)
-
Stand in
receiving line (optional)
-
Play hostess
at the wedding: introduce and mingle with guests,
give directions
to the bar,
bathroom,
gift table,
etc., invite guests to sign the
guest book, and so on...
-
Dance with the groomsmen
during the formal first-dance sequence
and help
get the party
going after that!
The bridesmaids also
have many very important unofficial roles to play
before
and during the wedding.
The bridesmaids
should be willing to help out and run errands if
they are able. Try to be a trooper not a complainer!
Even
if you hate the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses,
try to be gracious and tactful. During the wedding they
should give the maid/matron of honor a break by helping
to carry the bride’s train, bustle her dress
before the dancing begins, and even be ready to help
the bride
on visits to the restroom, if asked.
Overall the bridesmaids
should provide lots of emotional support to the bride
who will no doubt be stressed out and in need of a good
friend.
